Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches- a football game fave

"The Italian Place" sandwich shop is a STAPLE here in Utah County.
If you have not eaten there, you are MISSING.  OUT.
The "original" is in Orem on State Street, and a couple of years ago
they opened another in Provo near UVRMC hospital.
The specialty is the Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.
Go.  There.  Now.
-
BUT, if you are in the mood for a great philly sandwich and
you can't get to your nearest Italian Place... or you'd like to make
them for your family and not spend a fortune, here ya go!
-
My mom started making these years ago- we especially love them
while we're watching BYU's away games.
They are super-filling and soooo tasty.  Easy too.
(My hubs isn't a sandwich fan, but he loves these)
-
INGREDIENTS:
(keep in mind you can double/triple/quadruple this depending on
how many people you're feedin')
2 lbs. hamburger  (you can use sliced roast beef like the 'pros' do,
but we never do it like that ;)
1/2 - 1 onion, chopped (or dried onion flakes)
2 - 3 green peppers, chopped
[you may also use sliced mushrooms if you like]
8 - 16 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
Salt and lots of Pepper
Buns (hard or soft, whatever you prefer)
-
DIRECTIONS:
In a deep skillet or fry pan on medium-high heat, cook hamburger,
onion and green peppers.
-
Once the peppers are as soft as you like and the burger is cooked through,
drain off the grease and add the cheese.
-
Season with salt and lots of pepper.
-
Serve on buns/bread with chips.
-
It also keeps really well in the fridge for lunch the next day ;)
