No-Boil Lasagna (Faiga Fave!)

-
I tried a random No-Boil Lasagna from the internet a few years ago,
and it was pretty yum... even Suka liked it (he generally doesn't like Italian
food... weird!)  Anyway, I've 'played' with this recipe alot and
it has become one of our absolute favorites- we have it once a week.
The best thing is that you don't have to boil the noodles before baking,
and it's pretty fast to do the prep (even though the cooking takes a lil while).
Here's my lasagna:
-
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 1/2 - 2 lbs. hamburger
1-2 T. dried onion flakes (optional, for seasoning)
S & P
1 25oz. jar/can of your favorite spaghetti sauce (I've found
the milder ones work better)
16 oz. grated mozzarella cheese
1/4-1/2 c. grated parmesan
2 eggs
16 oz. cottage cheese
12 lasagna noodles (about half a box)
-
DIRECTIONS:
-
1. In a skillet, cook hamburger at med-high heat (I add S&P and onion
flakes in with it for seasoning).  *Preheat oven to 375-400 degrees
-
2. While the hamburger's cooking, mix the following in a medium mixing
bowl- all cottage cheese, both eggs, about 12 oz. of the mozzarella and
about half the parmesan
-
3. When the hamburger is cooked, drain off the grease and mix in the
spaghetti sauce.
-
4. In a 9x13 cake/lasagna pan, begin "building" your lasagna:
Bottom: 4 noodles (you may have to break one to fit)
Then 1/3 of the meat mixture
1/2 of the cottage cheese mixture
4 more noodles
1/3 of the meat
the rest of the cottage cheese mixture
4 more noodles
the rest of the meat
Now, sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and parm on top
-
5. Now, take about 3/4 c. water and pour into the pan,
around the edges of the lasagna
-
6. Cover with foil (tightly, as this will keep the steam from the
water in the pan, softening the noodles)
-
7. Cook at 375-400 for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 mins (as soon as the
noodles are as soft as you like, it's done)
-
So yummy- especially with some good garlic bread!
