Grandma Nielsen's Carrot pudding and sauce

Carrot Pudding

1 cup uncooked shredded carrots

1 cup uncooked shredded potatoes

1 cup sugar

1 cup flour

1 egg

1 tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 TBLS. baking soda

3/4 tsp. salt

1/2 c. melted shortening

mix all together and add 2 C. raisins and 1 c. nuts

steam cook (put pudding in small foil loaf pans, then put them in electric frying pan on top of cake pan rack..keep a couple of inches of boiling water in at all times)

steam cook for 2 hours

serve with yummy sauce:

equal portions of sugar, flour, and butter
1 tsp. vanilla
start with 1 c sugar and 1 c butter and vanilla and melt in pan stir in 1 c flour
add enough water till smooth and thick (but not too thick).

you want twice the sauce with the pudding♥♥♥♥
